Last Day to vote for NASA “Name the Rover Contest”
What is NASA Name the Rover Contest?
NASA will launch a new rover to Mars this July. This Mars 2020 rover will seek signs of past microbial life on Mars, collect surface samples as the first leg of a potential Mars Sample Return campaign, and test technologies to produce oxygen from the Martian atmosphere to prepare for future NASA missions And for that rover, they have arranged this contest to name this rover. This contest is especially for Individual K-12 Students in US public, private, and home schools (including U.S. territories & possessions and schools operated by the U.S. for the children of American personnel overseas). No team entries were allowed for this contest.
By participating in the essay contest, students will:
- Learn about real NASA missions
- Apply their critical thinking skills
- Learn something new, and form questions about a place they may never have heard of
- Conduct research using NASA websites
- Applying their writing skills
NASA already has selected the top nine finalists for this contest, and today (27/01/2020) is the last day to vote on this special web page where they’re also displaying the schoolchildren’s essays.
